Overview
Ontario’s Georgian Bay has fresh, clear water that is perfect for sea kayaking. Eastern Georgian Bay is part of the Canadian Shield and has bedrock that was exposed by glaciers during the last ice age. Granite rock formations and windswept white pines are characteristic of the area. The rugged beauty here inspired landscape paintings by artists from the Group of Seven.
There are tens of thousands of islands in the region. Collectively they are known as the “Thirty Thousand Islands”, and most of them are along the bay’s eastern side. In October 2004, the area was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Our sea kayaking holidays explore this coastline archipelago, and we camp on islands and in beautiful protected inlets.
